A farewell message from Chloe Baker, Managing Director

Eight years ago, I joined Harbourside with the intention of staying for just one year. However, as that year unfolded, I quickly realised how much was left to accomplish and I set out to achieve several key objectives that would mark my time here: elevating the marina to mainstream standards, improving the shower facilities, addressing health and safety and environmental issues, complete the dredging programme, enhancing our WiFi service, introduce policies and processes to ensure safety & consistency, finding a suitable bar and restaurant operator, establishing a welcoming community space and above all delivering a level of service that represents the best that can be achieved.

The road has been bumpy but I am delighted that the marina now has 4 Gold Anchors and ISO 9001,14001 & 45001, as well as being accredited a Clean Marina. Needless to say, I am very proud of these achievements.

However, the time has now come for me to pass the baton and explore new opportunities. I have accepted a new role managing two marinas in the UAE, which I will commence in January.

During my time at Liverpool Marina, I have forged unforgettable friendships and created lasting memories. I will forever remember how funny, caring and compassionate the people of Liverpool are - our wonderful berth holders who have made the Marina their safe space, their escape, and in some cases, their home. I will miss the days of crying with laughter (and with stress!) and the lessons learnt from watching berth holders and staff go the extra mile for each other in a way I don’t believe any other city could imagine.

I hope you appreciate the improvements we have achieved. Whilst the journey has not always been smooth, it has always been driven by a sincere intention to improve your experience and enhance the marina. I wish you all the best of health and luck going forwards and trust the groundwork is in place to ensure you all a successful and happy future.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my incredible team. While faces may change, the spirit of camaraderie remains. To the lads who work tirelessly to keep the Marina safe and secure and to the office team who always smile, despite the plates they’re spinning under the desk - I offer my thanks. Your efforts have made a lasting impact, and the marina would not be what it is today without each of you.

I am delighted to announce that Karen Cassin has been promoted to Marina Manager and will be taking on all responsibilities moving forward. Karen has successfully completed her Intermediate Marina Managers course, is a berth holder herself, and is deeply committed to our goal of continuous improvement. I am confident that Karen will lead the marina with talent, strength and vision.

Thank you all for an incredible eight years.

I wish you all the best,

Chloe
